CSD is the first licensed NGO MFI. It is the pioneer of the microfinance service providers of Nepal based on collateral free loan and women exclusive clients. It initiated Self-help Banking Program (SBP), a microfinance program, in 1993. In the year 2011 CSD transferred its microfinance portfolio to the Swabalamban Laghubitta Bikas Bank Ltd. Since then it concentrated mainly on the capacity building of MFIs and Cooperatives. CSD Initiates to Empower Internal Auditors

In a proactive effort to fortify the microfinance sector, the Centre for Self-help Development (CSD) orchestrated a successful three-day training program titled "Internal Audit & Control" from December 20-22, 2023 (Poush 04-06, 2080). The program was designed and catered specifically to 24 internal auditors of different microfinance institutions (MFIs) and microfinance cooperatives (MFCs), aiming to familiarize them with role and significance of internal auditors. 32nd Annual General Meeting of CSD Concludes with a Decision to Urge MFIs to Work for the Prosperity of their Members

The 32nd Annual General Meeting of the Centre for Self-help Development (CSD) was held on Sunday, December 10, 2023. The meeting decided to urge MFIs and MFCs to work to improve the financial health, and well-being of their members and focus their efforts to create prosperity through the development of entrepreneurship skills and abilities of microfinance members. CSD Celebrates its 32nd Anniversary

The Centre for Self-help Development (CSD) which is the pioneer NGO in microfinance sector in Nepal celebrated its 32nd anniversary on 13th August, 2023 (Shrawan 28, 2080).


Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, Mr. Maha Prasad Adhikari was the Chief Guest who inaugurated the program by lighting the traditional lamp ‘Panas’.
The program was chaired by the Chairman of CSD, Mr. Shankar Man Shrestha and attended by the members of the Board, representatives of the institutional and non-institutional members and other stakeholders of CSD.
