CSD is the first licensed NGO MFI. It is the pioneer of the microfinance service providers of Nepal based on collateral free loan and women exclusive clients. It initiated Self-help Banking Program (SBP), a microfinance program, in 1993. In the year 2011 CSD transferred its microfinance portfolio to the Swabalamban Laghubitta Bikas Bank Ltd. Since then it concentrated mainly on the capacity building of MFIs and Cooperatives. Empowering Women Entrepreneurs with Digital Literacy

The digital proficiency is crucial for business success, a three-day digital literacy program has equipped 39 micro-entrepreneur members of MFIs and Cooperatives with essential skills for navigating digital marketplace. The training, held from 31st Shrawan to 1st Bhadra 2081, was hold at the Sahara Nepal SACCOS Ltd., Birtamode. It was tailored to enhance the digital capabilities of microfinance clients.

The rate of bad loans has been increasing in microfinance institutions with the increasing trend of borrowings for non-productive and consumption purpose by the client members. As obvious, client members are burdened with unnecessary debts while MFIs suffers from increasing bad loan management. CSD Celebrating its 33rd Anniversary Dedicating its Service for Creating Three Zero Societies

The Centre for Self-help Development (CSD) celebrated its 33rd anniversary on 12th August, 2024 (Shrawan 28, 2081) amidst a function in Kathmandu.
The program was chaired by the Chairman of CSD, Mr. Shankar Man Shrestha and attended by 77 guests including the members of the CSD Board, representatives of the institutional and non-institutional members and other stakeholders of CSD.
